Windows Server on KVM is for workloads that need a full operating system, not a shared kernel. KVM virtualisation gives each instance its own kernel, its own /proc, and the ability to boot a custom ISO, so Windows Server runs as if on dedicated hardware. A container-based VPS shares the host kernel and cannot do this, which rules out non-Linux operating systems entirely. Before choosing it, know that Windows Server carries a high baseline memory footprint and a licensing cost, and it will reboot for updates.

People run MetaTrader trading terminals, .NET Framework applications, SQL Server, and Active Directory here. The GUI administration is familiar, and the platform is a requirement for MT4/MT5 and .NET. Start with the 2048 MB floor to boot, but that leaves little for your application. Budget for 8 GB to be comfortable. The operating system alone consumes a significant share of memory before your workload starts, so plan your RAM accordingly. Disk sizing depends on the application, but the optional 100 GB NVMe extra provides room for growth.
